As for the moon, so for the sun: from both
She draws her power; moon pearls grace her mouth,
Solar fire crimsons her lips, and yet
She’s unambiguous when her heart is set
The 11th century was a time of great glory for the Al-Andalus region in Spain, a time when the stunning monument Alhambra was built, a time when the legendary poet Ibn Quzman wrote this ode to the Andalusian heroine. A woman like no other. A woman who lives on today.
She is noble and fierce. Her spirit roars with pride. She is Ariella – the fearless one.
Inspired by the majestic Alhambra in Granada, Spain, Sue Mue’s Autumn-Winter 2017 collection Ariella breathes the flavour of passion and the valour of a woman in her element. The magnificence of the medieval Spanish monument and the magic of its handiwork set the tone of Sue Mue’s collection – an exploration of untouched art and unparalleled architecture.
With floral patterns inspired by the gardens of Generalife, the couture collection is for the woman who radiates power, whose lehenga or sari rustles with confidence, and whose shararas and palazzos leave the earth blooming in her wake. Raw silks, velvet, georgette and crepe gleam with zardozi, aari work, mukaish and French knots. She swings her cape haughtily across her arm, the lion motif declaring her truth, the hues of deep mustard, Mediterranean blue, pearly white and sandy beige revealing her heritage.
Ariella is extraordinary.
